How it started

From a garage to the Herd

A $15K bet on a laser

In 2020 I took out a $15K loan to buy my first laser. I engraved cutting boards and one-off gifts for friends and family, all while still working underground construction full time.
The problem no one had solved

Eventually I got into making hats and ran into a major problem: there wasn’t an adhesive that worked well with a hat press. So I was stitching every patch by hand, breaking needles and wasting time. There had to be a better solution.
The search for a better adhesive

I went on a mission to find the best adhesive out there, and it had to be made in the USA. I tested formulas from over eight manufacturers, and every single one failed, until I found the one that became Hydbond.
Bigger than one shop

After countless hours of testing, I realized this wasn’t just a solution for me. It was something thousands of makers across the country could use.
Hydbond started in a garage and has grown steadily ever since. Our flagship adhesive is still proudly made in the USA, and we are just getting started.
